The objectives of the Community Council are to ascertain, co-ordinate, and express to the local authorities the views of communities living and working in the West End of Dundee and to take appropriate actions in the interests of those communities. (from Local Government (Scotland Act) 1973) |

Any resident over 16 who has lived in the area for more than 12 months prior to the election is eligible to become a community councillor. The exceptions are city councillors, MSPs, MPs, and MEuPs.
